These are the main steps to selling your home:

  7. Open your home to potential buyers
  8. Receive offers for your home
  9. Negotiate a contract for your home
  10. Sign the contract
  11. Close escrow
    • Make sure the earnest money deposit is received
    • Stay on track with the transaction
    • Follow up on the loan process
  12. Give the keys to the buyer

Steps 2, 3, and 4 can be reordered based on your preference. Some steps can be skipped depending on the property. For example, homes that are old and severely worn can be sold without staging because its value is in the land, not the building.
